Hi Danny,
First I want to tell you that you have no idea of what a thrill
the Redfish hunt we took Sunday was to both Bob and me. It's nice
to know that there are still some areas of sport where a great time
can be had without all of the crudeness that seems to be somewhere
in most every group these days. Your Christian attitude does not
go unnoticed or unappreciated by me. Thanks for a great day!
I'm not sure how success on a fishing trip should be measured but
I think ours would probably measure up with the best. Let's see
now: On my very first trip with a flyrod I caught three Black Drums
that weighed from 8-12 pounds. Then you look at my Redfish and you
see that my very first ever flyrod Redfish weighed 23.5 pounds.
Then I caught one that was 18 lbs. and finished with a baby that
only weighed 12 lbs. (Of course I should mention that the 12 pounder
and the largest black drum was caught on a four-foot long flyrod).
I guess we should also mention that my partner, even though he was
using "goofy tackle", caught a 38 pound red on an eight pound line
and that I destroyed my flyrod of a Redfish every bit as big as
the 38 pounder. Plus I had another fish on of the same size spit
my crab out after swimming about 15 feet with it in his mouth.
Yep, I say a pretty good trip. I'm in the process of tying a spun
deer hair crab that looks pretty good so I'll go for now. You can
count on seeing me more that once a year. See ya!
In His Service,
Eddie (Dr. J)
